Report: Mary Kennedy asked RFK Jr. for help the day before committing suicide

By Lee Higgins

The day before she was found dead of a suicide, Mary Richardson Kennedy called her estranged husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and asked for help, according to records obtained by The Journal News.

“She told me that she was sorry for everything … She said that I was right about everything, and everything was her fault. She then told me that she needed me to take care of her,” Robert Kennedy told investigators.

Mary Kennedy had fallen out of her routine in her final days, a caretaker at her Bedford estate told police. Instead of going to the gym in the morning, she was “staying in her bed by herself.” In fact, the caretaker didn’t clean her bedroom on Monday, May 14, or on Tuesday, May 15, which was the last day she was seen alive, because Mary Kennedy didn’t leave.
