Bar Associations Installing Officers and Honoring People at Events in Rockland

Several social events have been added to the calendars of Rockland’s attorneys:
• On June 8, the Rockland Women’s Bar Association will honor Winsome Downie-Rainford with its Belle Mayer Zeck Award during an installation dinner at Casa Mia House, Route 303, in Blauvelt. Downie-Rainford, a professor of government at Manhattan College, is president of the Martin Luther King Multipurpose Center. The cost is $80. Mayer Zeck, a local lawyer for decades, served as a prosecuting attorney for the United States at the post World War II Nuremberg Trials. In Nuremberg, she met her future husband, William Zeck, also a prosecutor at the trials of Nazis and their co-conspirators on war crimes. He became a judge.
• On June 24, Lynne S. Hilowitz will be installed as president of the Rockland County Bar Association at its dinner meeting starting at 6 p.m. at Restaurant X, 117 Route 303, Congers. The guest speaker will be lawyer Williard H. DaSilva. Other officers being installed include Keith Cornell as president-elect, Lawrence Codispoti as vice president, Alan E. Goldstein as treasurer and Alan G.. Rosenblatt as secretary. Directos will be outgoing president Glenn W. Kellerher as a senior director for one year. Serving two-year terms as directors: Patrick T. Burke, Robert D. Fenster, Larry Gantt, Ira S. Schoeps, and Elizabeth A. Haas; serving continuing terms, Cassandra Bilotta, Robert B. Marcus, Shelley A. Forde and Larry J. Schwartz; and one-year terms, James J. Freeman Jr. and Ricki H. Berger.
• Rockland County Family Court Judge Linda Christopher is running for the state Supreme Court in the November election. Christopher won election several years ago to the Family Court. She is an acting Supreme Court justice.
